Our Story

Tidewater Technologies is the result of a 10 year evolution that began as a humble one man operation from an apartment in Pennsylvania. In 2007 that sole proprietor took on a partner who complimented his wealth of computer knowledge with the creative drive to get his business noticed. With a couple of yellow page ads and an entrepreneurial spirit, Michael and Kailyn answered the call for an affordable on-site computer repair company.

Timing, perseverance, and ten years of trying will eventually make you look like an overnight success.” -Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter

Business partners eventually became spouses and in 2012 the newlyweds relocated to Galena, MD to be closer to Kailyn’s family. Running the business remotely from their home, the business faced an entirely new set of challenges:  from finding reliable internet to enduring long commutes just to locate a retail parts dealer. Learning to adjust to the rural mindset and getting the business recognized on a local level was proving to be difficult.

In the spring of 2013 a small cottage became available for rent in Georgetown, MD. Michael and Kailyn immediately recognized the opportunity to make the business visible to the public and opened their first office that July doing business as Tidewater Computers. The infamous “The bridge may slow you down… but your computer doesn’t have to” street sign became a landmark that stimulated word-of-mouth referrals and instant acknowledgment amongst the community.

As the business grew, so did the relationships with local residents and businesses. Clients came to Tidewater Computers for much more than a slow computer. Michael catered to every IT need that came through the door. With each new project Tidewater Computers reached a new level of expertise, expanding its service offerings. Branching out into new ventures such as Internet Service and Security Camera Solutions, Tidewater Computers quickly outgrew its name and its 500 square foot office.

The rebrand and relocation took place in May of 2016 establishing Tidewater Technologies as a home base to its offshoot companies. Dedicated to providing solutions for a technology starved Eastern Shore, the “one stop technology shop” was born.

Tidewater Technologies is thriving from its new location in Galena’s Dogwood Plaza. Kailyn and Michael believe in keeping the “Mom and Pop” in small business despite the growth. Every client is  a friend and employees have become family. Tidewater Technology strives to keep problem-solving a priority over profit, benefiting exclusively on the good word of loyal customers.
